Fun Things To Do at Barren River Lake
Our lakehouse is situated a mere 2 miles from Bailey's Point Recreation area inside beautiful Barren River Lake Resort Park. The park hosts hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, swimming, water-skiing, knee-boarding, wake-boarding, jet-skiing, tubing and boating in general. Bailey's Point also hosts camping, has children's playgrounds, concessions, and sponsors movie nights during the summer season.
In addition, this Kentucky cabin for rent is merely 30 minutes from Bowling Green, KY, home of the National Corvette Museum and Plant. We are less than an hour from Kentucky Down Under and Mammoth Cave National Park, which offers horseback riding, spelunking and various other sightseeing activities.
Cooper's Cottage is also close to Harper's Restaurant - offering what we think is the 
BEST fried catfish in the south, a convenience store, gas station and grocery store, and we are happy to provide directions to any of these activities.
About Barren River Lake
The lake is situated in the rural, rolling hills of Allen, Barren and Monroe counties in South Central Kentucky, 95 miles southwest of Louisville and 90 miles northeast of Nashville (directions). The historic, scenic and natural beauty of the rural Kentucky landscape in combination with an intensively managed Corps of Engineers Lake provides for an exciting and safe family recreational experience that will long be remembered.
Barren River Lake was authorized under the Flood Control Act of 1938. The Louisville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers designed, built, and operates the project to reduce flood damages downstream from the dam. The dam is about 10 miles east of Scottsville, Ky., on the Barren River, a tributary of the Green River. The drainage area above the dam is about 940 square miles.
